ean Spicer, spokesman for the Reich, stupefied the masses when he said: “I think when you come to sarin gas, [Hitler] was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing.” You have to understand that Hitler was so much more the humanitarian than Assad.
But this claim that Hitler never gassed his own people? Think Progress says it is “false.” NBC News says it is false. Everwhere, people are saying it is false.
Actually, Mr. Spicer is right: German Jews were not German citizens. It’s true: On September 15, 1935, the Nuremberg Race Laws stripped Jews of Reich citizenship. And a “Jew” was defined as someone who had at least three Jewish grandparents, regardless of whether he or she identified as Jewish.
So when Hitler used the sarin gas, he was not using it on German citizens. This is right. Mr. Spicer should be commended for his truthfulness. The White House doesn’t deal in fake news.
I don’t mean Mr. Spicer knew or did not know about the Nuremberg laws that turned Jews something different than Hitler’s people. I only mean that he realized—as Hitler did—the that Jews are inherently non-citizens and non-people. He understands this instinctively, whether he knows any history or not.
And think about what else Mr. Spicer is telling us. He is holding up Hitler’s moral achievement in not gassing his own citizens. Assad should have had the foresight of Hitler. He should have taken away the citizenship of those he wanted to gas, before he gassed them. If he had done so, Mr. Spicer would not have been able to criticize him. Mr. Spicer would not need to say, “Assad? Hitler was better. Hitler did the right thing; he didn’t gas his own people.”
See? The spokesman for the Reich knew what he was saying. The media should stop dismissing him as an ignoramus. He knew what he was saying.
